Terry S Zweng

Terry Zweng joined the Fire service with the Vancouver Fire Department in 1976. He worked as a firefighter for 18 years, until transferring to the Fire Investigation Division in 1994. After working as the On-Duty Fire Investigator for six years, he was promoted to Captain and put in charge of the Fire Investigation Division in 2000.

Mr. Zweng has been involved in the investigation of over 1,100 fires including commercial and residential structures, motor vehicles and marine vessels. He has worked with the Police/Arson and Major Crimes Divisions of both the Vancouver Police Department and the RCMP, in the investigation of serial arsonists and homicide cases. Terry has been in charge of the investigation of major dollar loss fires and fires involving the loss of life.  He has qualified as an expert witness in fire investigation and has given testimony in the BC Provincial Court.

Terry has completed the three levels of the Canadian Fire Investigation School. He has continued to expand his knowledge through courses and seminars, including Advanced Fire Investigation Courses from the United States Fire Academy, the National Association of Fire Investigators, and both basic and advanced Post Bomb Blast Investigation from the US Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Fire Arms.
